Why does shaving make your hair grow back longer and darker?

Why does shaving make your hair grow back longer and darker? I used to shave off my body hair because I wanted more of my tan to show, but I got tired of all the bumps I got on my skin. I just now stick to tanning, but I noticed that my hair is growing back longer and darker. Why does shaving do this?

shaving cuts it off at the edge of the skin, and it just doesnt work lol. waxing is the best since it pulls it from the root

I went to school with this swimmer guy and he shaved his whole body one time. Word got around. Everybody pointed and laughed…

    Am I off point?
