I just bought my husband a Conair hot lather machine for Christmas, but we can't find any shaving cream cans at the stores that don't have a warning to not heat the contents. What should we do?

Every shaving cream can says that just to protect themselves if you have a problem .. I have owned mine ,which is also a Conair for eight years.. I have used Barbasol ,Colgate,all store brand types, Gillette, and any other name.. One thing that will fool you,, if you get the larger size of 14.75 you also have to turn the base upside down. to accommodate the larger can.. And make sure you remove the plastic cap on the shaving cream can before you insert it into the conair container.. I think that covers everything.. I love mine and use it every day..Oh yeah, It has a lite on it that comes on reddish orange when you turn it on and when its hot the lite switches to a green lite right next to the orange,,plus if it reaches right temperature for a long period, it switches to orange to cool down, and then reheats to green..
