Is it a good idea to switch from blades to electric razor after 20 years of shaving?

Author: I've been using a blade for 20 years, but finally getting annoyed by the nicks and cuts, even though I use those ridiculously expensive Fusion blades and shaving cream. I always heard that your beard gets used to blades and that switching to electric is not easy and that you won't get a very close shave. Before wasting money on an electric, any opinions on whether a middle-age man can or should change?

What’s the difference between shaving blades for men and those for women?
I'm a woman but I use Gillette blue 2 (I think they're called), which are supposed to be for men; and shaving gel for men too.
So is there any danger in that?
I mean maybe would my leg hair grow a little less strong than it does now if I use a different type of blade?
